FAQ’s

    • All appointments can be made by calling the Belconnen Specialist Centre on 0262511880 or via the online portal (can be found throughout my website).

    • No need to have referral to make an appointment.

    • The appointment frequency will be tailored to your individual needs.

    • For Family/couple counselling sessions, this is a collaborative counselling/skills coaching experience. The frequency of sessions for both parent and child will depend on the specific issues and interventions being addressed. Your counsellor will provide personalised recommendations on how often both you and your child or partner should attend counselling together.

    • Individual Appointment: For parents booking an individual session for a child under 16, it is necessary for a parent to attend the initial session. This helps ensure a clear understanding of the reasons for counselling and allows both the parent and child to become familiar with the counselling process. Please note that after the initial session, all discussions between the counsellor and the child will remain confidential. If any significant concerns arise, the counsellor may request a follow-up session with the parent(s) to discuss them.

    • Longer appointments (90-minute) cost more as this allows adequate time for implementing interventions, helping clients understand and practice new skills/strategies, and introducing additional interventions based on progress.

    • For counselling process, it is important to understand that meaningful change will not happen in just one session. It is crucial that you attend a session once a week or fortnightly. However, the frequency may change depending on progress and your individual needs.

    • Our counselling and skills coaching services are available both online and in-person, providing clients with the Flexibility to choose the format that best suits their needs.

    • For those who prefer in-person sessions, we offer a welcoming and private setting at Belconnen Specialist Centre, designed to ensure comfort and confidentiality.

    • Whether you choose to meet in person or connect online through secure platform, Zoom. We are committed to delivering a supportive and professional environment tailored to your preferences.

  • What happens in a counselling session?

    • Counselling sessions are a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges, and work toward finding clarity, solutions, and healing. Every sessions is tailored to your unique needs and goals.

    How do I know if counselling is right for me?

    • If you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to move forward, counselling can help. It’s not about having the answers - it’s about having a supportive guide to help you navigate life’s challenges and discover your own strengths.

    How long does counselling take?

    • The length of counselling varies depending on your goals and needs. Some people find relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from long-term support. It will also depends on your mental health condition.

    What if I’ve never been to counselling before?

    • That’s completely okay! Many people feel nervous about their first session, and that’s normal. My role is to make you feel comfortable and supported as we being this journey together.

    What if I’m not sure what to talk about?

    • That’s perfectly fine! You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. We’ll start whenever you feel comfortable, and I’ll guide the conversation to help you explore what’s on your mind.

    Can counselling help with (e.g., anxiety, depression, relationships, grief)?

    • Yes, counselling can help with a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, trauma, and more. If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for your situation, feel free to reach out - we can discuss it during your free consultation.

    • To ensure a smooth process for our online and in-person appointments, payment details will be be required at the time of booking.

      This practice is in place to mitigate the occurrence of no-show or last minute cancellation of appointments.

    • We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, we ask for a 24-hour notice to be provided to qualify for a full refund; refund will go back to your original account within 3-5 business days.

      We offer online session as an alternative if you are unwell to attend in-person.

    • Appointments cancelled on the same day or in cases of a no-show, your payment is non-refundable for online appointment; in-person appointment, a 20% of the appointment fee (depending on the type of appointment you have booked), will be charge to your nominated card.

    • An appointment serves as a commitment to our collaborative work and represents a mutual agreement between us to be present at the scheduled time.

    • Please note that if you arrive late, it may impact the duration of our session as I may have another appointment scheduled afterwards.

    • In the event that I am unwell, you will be promptly notified, and a full refund will be issued.

    • We kindly request your cooperation in minimising missed appointments; recurring missed appointments may necessitate a charge for the missed time.

    • We do not offer Medicare Rebates or DVA, therefore, sessions will be out of pocket.

    • Mental Healthcare Plan is not available. The fees at Oasis are already cheaper than most counselling services available and we I am not part of Medicare.

    • Private Health Insurace, is available. Please ensure to check with your private health insurer to ensure that counselling is under your insurance cover.
